Honeycomb catalyst is an important external purification device installed in automobile exhaust system. It can convert harmful gases such as CO, HC hydrocarbon and NOx nitrogen oxides discharged from automobile exhaust into harmless gases like carbon dioxide, water and nitrogen through oxidation and reduction.

Honeycomb ceramic as a carrier is a key component of the three-way catalytic converter. One of its important materials is cordierite, which is resistant to high temperatures, has a high continuous working temperature of up to 1200°C, high strength, and low linear expansion coefficient. The carrier adopts an effective surface and a suitable pore structure. The opening rate of the ceramic carrier can reach 400-600 mesh/inch2, and the small wall thickness can reach about 0.16mm. It can enhance the mechanical strength of the catalyst, and also improve its resistance to wear, impact, gravity, pressure, high temperature, and phase change, improve the conductivity of the catalyst, and reduce the content of active components, especially in When using precious metal catalysts of platinum, palladium, and rhodium, the active components can be highly dispersed and the dosage can be reduced.

Metallic catalyst substrates are made of thin metal foils. The advantages of metal substrates are their high geometric surface area, low pressure drop and improved flow properties associated with the thin walls. The foils in metallic substrates can be brazed/welded together to provide good mechanical durability and resistance to thermal shock.
