DPF Diesel Particulate Filter for Diesel Vehicles Cordierite/SiC Substrate Euro 5/6

DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter)

Diesel particulate filters (DPF) are devices that physically capture diesel particulate matter (PM) to prevent their release into the atmosphere. Diesel particulate filter materials have been developed that show impressive filtration efficiencies, over 90%, as well as good mechanical and thermal durability. Diesel particulate filters have become the most effective technology for the control of diesel particulate emissions - including particle mass and numbers - with high efficiencies.

To meet China Stage VI / Euro 6 and above emission regulations, WFEC has developed the catalysts and coating process technology for DPFs. The catalyst coated in the pores of the filter wall can improve passive regeneration to extend regeneration intervals and cut the fuel cost, as well as the reduction of HC and CO. The CDPFs with lower back pressure and better catalytic activity can be applied to various diesel vehicles.

Cordierite DPF

Monolithic filters are made of cordierite - a synthetic ceramic composition of the formula 2MgO-2Al₂O₃-5SiO₂ that has been developed for automotive catalytic converters. Cordierite is characterized by a very low thermal expansion coefficient, which makes the material resistant to high-temperature gradient during extreme thermal cycling. Coated filters exhibit high-temperature resistance (~850°C) and max soot loading is about 5g/L.

SiC DPF

Wall-flow monoliths are also made of silicon carbide (SiC). The coated silicon carbide filter’s max soot loading is 8g/L. It shows better temperature resistance (~950°C) than coated cordierite DPF. Its drawback is a higher thermal expansion coefficient, so the filters are made of units bonded with adhesive. On the other hand, higher cost leads to a low utilization rate for large volume engines.
